On the Litvínov 2010 Open Day

On Saturday, 19 June 2010, Česká rafinérská - jointly with Unipetrol RPA and other companies operating within the Litvínov-Záluží Chempark – hosted an Open Day. The event was attended by a total of 696 visitors; of those, 551 took a coach ride along the site with a commentary delivered by qualified guides.

The Open Day 2010 program was opened by A. Pazdior, Chief Executive of Unipetrol RPA, and I. Souček, Chief Executive Officer of Česká rafinérská. On the premises adjacent to the admin building, a marquee was pitched. There visitors were registered for a coach ride along the site, and to familiarize themselves with major refining and petrochemical products manufactured within the site as well as with concrete current use items made of plastics.

Coaches would - in regular intervals - pass through the industrial site along a route designed to give the visitors a change to explore most of significant production facilities and auxiliary operations. In Česká rafinérská´s part of the site, coaches would stop at the Central Control Room where most refinery facilities are controlled from. In Unipetrol RPA part, visitors would largely explore the huge steamcracker complex producing plastics and other important industrial chemicals.

As part of the Open Day, visitors were moreover provided with a chance to check out a host of display booths set up by other companies and a variety of cooperating companies such as, e.g., those of EDUCHEM Vocational School, Schola Humanitas, or of the Most Ore Mountains Environmental Center. Also present  - and displaying their cutting-edge equipment - were dog-handlers of the Litvínov Municipal Police squad, and members of Unipetrol RPA´s Fire Rescue Service. A special fun scheme was arranged for the kids.

The interest of visitors flocking in from a host of venues across the Czech Republic definitely exceeded expectations. The  aim, i.e. to show the Litvínov-Záluží Chempark as a complex steered by  qualified staff  with emphasis on work safety, health and environmental protection, was achieved.
