Safety and health protection at work – environmental protection – quality – asset protection

Česká rafinérská is engaged in the processing of crude oil for its customers (commercial companies of the Shareholders) and produces crude oil products in two refineries, located in Kralupy nad Vltavou and in Litvínov, Czech Republic.

Česká rafinérská has implemented and maintains an Integrated Management System, components of which are a Health and Safety Management System, an Environmental Management System, a Quality Assurance System and Asset Protection. Česká rafinérská observes the principles of social responsibility.

Within the Integrated Management System, Česká rafinérská has committed to adhere to the following commitments:

• Operate the facilities in a way, which is safe and protects the health of employees, vendors, other companies as well as inhabitants of the region, and has minimal negative impacts on the environment, safety and quality of products and their assets.
• Protect the assets and values of Česká rafinérská. Take care of entrusted assets and maintain them in an operable condition, observe their proper use and protect them from misuse.
• Ensure the fulfilment of legislative and other requirements in the areas of safety and health protection at work, environmental protection and quality of products and services. In conformance with legislative and other requirements, maintain, monitor and verify conformance on an ongoing basis both on the sides of employees, as well as other concerned parties.
• Strive to continuously improve performance in the areas of safety and health protection at work, environmental protection, quality of products and services and asset protection.
• Champion a preventative approach in terms of safety and health protection at work, environmental protection, quality of products and services and protection of assets from the consequences of extraordinary incidents. Maintain and test emergency systems.
• Continuously and in a qualified manner identify hazards, environmental implications, assess risks - including business risks - and environmental impacts, and adopt and implement measures to eliminate risks or to mitigate them. Lead employees to minimize the adverse impacts of their activities on the environment, on safety and health protection at work, on the quality of products and services and on assets.
• When changing and introducing new products, production facilities and technology, assess the potential impacts on safety and health protection, on the environment and on assets prior to making the final decision on their execution or implementation, and aim to ensure that their adverse impacts be as minimal as possible.
• Maintain a high quality of products and services. Adjust products specifications so as to meet customers’ requirements.
• Educate, motivate, increase employees’ as well as vendors’ and business partners’ awareness regarding safety and health protection at work, environmental protection and regarding quality assurance, requiring from them a responsible approach to safety and health, health protection at work and protection of Česká rafinérská’s assets, responsible attitude to the environment and adherence to the required level of quality of supplied products and services.
• Monitor, measure and evaluate processes and define measures to improve their operation in order to continuously improve effectiveness of the management systems.
• Record and analyze any non-conformances with processes which occur. Adopt corrective and preventive measures to remove the causes of non-conformances and any potential non-conformances.
• Communicate with all concerned parties and promote an open attitude towards the public, particularly in the neighboring towns and villages. During the performance of all activities take into account the opinions of the concerned parties. Provide concerned parties with the necessary information on relevant hazard sources, environmental implications, and on possibilities to effectively protect against them.
• Inform customers about the principles of safety and health protection at work, environmental protection and protection of assets in terms of transporting, using and disposing of refinery products.
• Regularly examine employees’ health condition.
• Direct employees to adhere to the principles of safety and health protection at work and environmental protection during their out-of-work activities as well.
• Observe a high level of ethical behaviour.
• Regularly review the appropriateness and adequacy of the Integrated Management System Policy.

By adopting and implementing these commitments, we contribute to fulfilling the mission and vision of the Company. All employees of Česká rafinérská and concerned parties are responsible for fulfilling the principles and commitments of the Integrated Management System Policy. By consistently adhering to the above committments, we prevent occurrence of emergency situations. The objective is to have no accidents.
